Famous Veterans Born April 27th: Jack KlugmanWishing Jack Klugman a happy angel birthday today! Jack Klugman stared on several hit TV shows including: Quincy M.E. and, of course, as Oscar Madison on The Odd Couple. But did you know that before all his fame from acting on a dozen plus movies and several dozen TV shows, Klugman was a soldier United States Army during World War II? Shown in this photo with Odd Couple castmate and fellow veteran, Tony Randall (served for four years with the United States Army Signal Corps in World War II, including work at the Signals Intelligence Service). Another piece of (Famous Veterans) trivia: after the war, Klugman pursued acting roles in New York City, while sharing an apartment with friend and fellow actor (and fellow veteran) Charles Bronson. Bronson enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces and served in the 760th Flexible Gunnery Training Squadron, and in 1945 as a Boeing B-29 Superfortress aerial gunner with the Guam-based 61st Bombardment Squadron within the 39th Bombardment Group, which conducted combat missions against the Japanese home islands. He flew 25 missions and received a Purple Heart for wounds received in battle. #JackKlugman #TonyRandall and #CharlesBronson… all 3 served their country prior to fame and fortune… and all 3 are on a long list of celebs who served: FamousVeterans.com
