Scholarship Awards: the Fran Sargent Scholarship, the R. Shelton & H. Modi unlimited FAA written-test scholarship, the ADF Flight School Airbus 320 Transition Scholarship

FAA Award: Ursula Davidson will be presented with her Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award

Fundraising: Please help us support our scholarship fund by bringing donations for and generously participating in our Silent Auction, Raffle, and 50/50 split

Our scholarship is named in honor of Fran Sargent because she secured the original $11,000 that funded our scholarship program in 1981. Over 40 women have benefited from the scholarships since then.

Fran was a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) in World War II. She towed targets so soldiers could practice shooting at enemy aircraft.

Fran was an admired flight instructor and airline transport pilot. She received many honors while an aviation professor at Miami-Dade Community College. Fran was born in Little Rock, AR on Amelia Earhart’s birthday in 1919 and flew to new horizons on December 27, 2013

R. Shelton & H. Modi unlimited FAA written-test scholarship

THREE awards:

  • One for a current member of the Ninety-Nines
  • One for a “Friend of the Ninety-Nines” (male or female)
  • One for a Veteran of the Military (male or female)

The winners are entitled to a GIFT CERTIFICATE for unlimited FAA Knowledge Tests taken at Pilot Training Center Homestead (X51).

ADF FLIGHT SCHOOL AIRBUS 320 TRANSITION SCHOLARSHIP

ADF Flight School, an FAA approved Part 141 Flight Academy with over 35 years of experience, is offering an Airbus 320 Transition Training Course and Simulator. Using a state-of-the-art simulator, the Airbus 320 simulator program enhances CRM and strengthens cockpit skills with 20 hours in the simulator.

Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award

The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award–is named in honor of Orville and Wilbur Wright who were two American aviation pioneers credited with inventing, building, and flying the world’s first successful motor-operated airplane. The Wright Brothers made the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft with the Wright Flyer on December 17, 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The brothers were also the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a U.S. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) or Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate.
  • Have 50 or more years of civil and military piloting experience or 50 or more years combined experience in both piloting and aircraft operations.
  • Up to 20 years of the required 50 years may be U.S. military experience.
  • The effective start date for the 50 years is the date of the nominee’s first solo flight or military equivalent.
  • The 50 years may be computed consecutively or non-consecutively.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Have NOT had any airman certificate revoked.

Overlooking the runway of the Miami International Airport, enjoy a fantastic view of planes taking off and landing at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Miami.

Join us in the Nieuport Room for our scholarship luncheon where we will enjoy a welcome mingle spread, buffet with choice of 2 entrees and 3 salads, and desserts, as well as unlimited sodas, iced tea, lemonade, coffee, and tea.
