HEROES, Hearts & Horses – Loews Ventana Canyon Resort (Tucson)

For 47 years, Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT) has been enriching the lives of children and adults affected by disabilities. In 2006, TROT created the Heroes on Horses program for military veterans and has since then expanded the program to include first responders. By utilizing equine-assisted activities and therapies, TROT works to improve their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. Over the years, TROT has served thousands of individuals of all abilities and is dedicated to empowering our participants to live life without barriers.

This year, the 23rd annual Gala will be named HEROES, Hearts & Horses and will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Loews Ventana Canyon. We will dedicate this event to our Heroes and their honorable and selfless service.

HEROES, Hearts & Horses is presented by Donegan Burns Foundation. The Donegan Burns Foundation is a non-profit private family foundation that seeks to improve life potential for children. It’s founder’s main goal was to be an effective financial resource for organizations who are capable and enthusiastic in their work to help children overcome learning and physical disabilities. PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Centers throughout the nation are making awesome strides in accomplishing the foundation’s goal. DBF supports PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Centers in Arizona, California and Texas. Annual Seminars are conducted for Center Leaders to promote networking, training and exchange of ideas. Executive Director, Debbie Shinner, of REINS in Fallbrook, California hosts these gatherings.

The Gala will be a hybrid event providing a safe and comfortable in-person environment as well as a virtual option for others at home and across the country to show support and have access to the silent auction. Funds raised at this event are crucial to sustaining our life-changing equine therapy programs.
