Legacy Cares Foster Care Fair 2022

Register for the upcoming 2023 Winter Session!
Dates / Times
The session begins Sunday, January 8th and runs through Sunday, March 5th. There will be no games on Sunday, January 15th because of Martin Luther King weekend, or on Sunday, February 12th, because of the Super Bowl. All games will be played at either 7pm or 8pm on Sundays. The final day of the session (March 5th) is for playoffs, where the semi-final games will be at 7pm and 8pm, and the championship game will be between the winners of the semi-final games at 9pm.
Location
All games will be played at the Detroit Skating Club, 888 Denison Ct, Bloomfield Twp, MI 48302, on Rink C.
Format
The 2023 Fall Session will follow a draft format. We expect to have a total of 4 teams. There will be one team captain chosen from a small group of experienced veterans. Each captain will then have an opportunity to designate a co-captain for their team. Individual players will sign up and indicate their experience level and desired position, and may also indicate an optional “carpool buddy.” Carpool buddies are generally married couples, best friends, etc., who want to ensure that they are drafted as a pair and so end up on the same team. Captains will then hold a draft from all registered players prior to the start of the session. The draft format helps ensure that teams are balanced for the session, providing a mix of seasoned veterans and new players on each team, while still allowing players the ability to play on a team with somebody that they know. Once teams have been drafted and rosters finalized there will be no player substitutions allowed.
Requirements
Players are generally expected to provide their own equipment for each session. There will be a limited number of broomball sticks and broomball shoes available. All participants will be required to provide their own hockey helmet with face mask, which must be worn at all times while on the ice. Your registration fee includes the cost of a jersey that will be provided for you.
Additional recommended equipment to bring includes:
- Kneepads and shin pads OR hockey leg pads
- Elbow pads
- Hockey gloves OR utility gloves or similar
Broomball is a sport that involves some risk. As such all participants will be required to sign a waiver.
Registration Deadline
All players must be registered by no later than Wednesday, January 4th. The registration deadline notwithstanding, there are a total of 60 available slots for the Fall Session which shall be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants beyond the first 60 will be placed on a waitlist. If enough players are waitlisted we may open up an additional 2 teams with the additional games being played from 9-10pm.
Registration Fee
The Registration Fee for the 2023 Winter Session is $120 per player. The fee covers the cost of ice time for a total of six regular session games plus 1 playoff game, referee fees, Eventbrite registration fees, and helps support the club with a nominal budget for equipment and equipment maintenance. There is also a new jersey fee of $40 for any new players, or for existing players needing a replacement jersey.
