Midwest WWII Military History Convoy Through Southeast Iowa's Back Roads
WWII Military Vehicle convoy through Southeast Iowa’s back roads. Stopping in towns along the route to do living history displays.

The first annual Midwest WWII Military Vehicle Convoy is a rolling living history display. Starting at the historic Ottumwa Naval Air Station Museum, north of Ottumwa, IA. The only Naval Air Station from WWII with any buildings from the war still standing. Former President Richard Nixon was stationed there for the duration of the war and his office has been restored in the Museum as it is the original Administration building.

The convoy will depart there and head out on the backroads through to its next stop of Albia, IA where a 1 hr break will be done to display the vehicles and WWII impressions to the public as we “occupy” the historic Victorian town square. After this stop it is on to Blakesburg, IA for a 30 min stop before moving on to Bloomfield, IA where again the convoy will “occupy” the historic town square and do display before returning to the staging area for a meal and well deserved relaxation time.

Camping at the Staging area is encouraged, with the properties features open to use, such as the beer garden, pond and wooded countryside.

Sunday for those who wish to stay over and participate we will go gravel road running and see the hollers and river hills and bluffs experience before everyone loads up and heads back out.
