Our Service Members, Veterans and their Families experience norms, rituals, unique stressors and challenges that are often unfamiliar to civilian mental health providers. Bolstering your knowledge of the military, illuminates its cultural implications, improves healthcare outcomes and therapeutic alignment and facilitates use of evidenced-based approaches. Lethal means safety counseling is a key component of the safety planning process. It is vital to equip mental health professionals with the language and skills to conduct lethal means safety counseling as half of veterans own a firearm.
