Join us on the third Monday of the month as we build Houston’s Med & Health Tech community the Ion!
Houston is home to the world’s largest medical center, the Texas Medical Center! Saving lives is serious, especially on that massive scale. For those wanting to improve healthcare, both inside and outside the industry, this community is for you!
This community is for all who are interested in Med & Health Tech, including Med & HealthTech entrepreneurs, thought leaders interested in Med & Health Tech innovation, vendors and funders seeking to work with Med & Health Tech services and technology sector startups, Med & Health Tech investors, healthcare professionals–including clinical and non-clinical staff, hospital leaders and decision makers, researchers, students, and community members wanting to share their Med & Health Tech knowledge, and more!

About the host:
Steven D. Powell, MSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, CRRN, NHDP-BC is a Peruvian-American nurse who has lived in ten cities across four continents. He is Clinical Advisor for Elemeno Health, a cloud-based SaaS microlearning platform for frontline healthcare teams. His inpatient specialties include medical-surgical (American Nurses Credentialing Center- Board Certified), spinal-cord-injury (Rehabilitation Nursing Certification Board Certified), and National Healthcare Disaster Professional (ANCC).
Prior to joining Elemeno Health, Steven worked for the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Houston, TX. Along with clinical duties, he served with the Disaster Emergency Medical Personnel System. Deployments included Puerto Rico’s 6.4 earthquake in January 2020, Arkansas Delta surge July 2021 and New Orleans Hurricane Ida relief September 2021. Steven graduated from Duke University’s Master of Science in Nursing program in Nursing and Healthcare Leadership. His BSN is from Oklahoma City University, and a BA (Communications) from Tulane University. 2022 accolades include the “Beyond Duke Service and Leadership Award” and Texas Nurses Association District 9 Top 30 Nurses.
Outside of Elemeno Health, Steven is involved with government affairs through the Texas Nurses Association. He is a frequent guest speaker on topics including healthcare and public policy. An active start-up community member, Steven is regularly seen at The Ion. His free time includes music discovery, supporting Houston sports, and avidly playing trivia as Team Captain for Quizzly Bears (2022 Houston Trivia League Champions-Challenge Entertainment).
