The SigEp Classic – Raising Money For The Collegiate Veterans Association

February 27, 2022 @ 9:00 am EST

$20 – $100
The SigEp Classic - Raising Money For The Collegiate Veterans Association
The SigEp Classic will be the first annual brother, alumni, and family golf event, raising money for the Collegiate Veterans Association.

The first annual brother/alumni golf scramble, better known as The SigEp Classic, will take place at SouthWood Golf Club on Sunday, February 27th, with an 8:30 AM registration and 9:00 AM shotgun start.

Our Goal

Our goal behind this Philanthropy event is to raise over $10,000 for the Collegiate Veterans Association here at FSU. In doing so we hope to allow our current brothers to meet and network with our alumni. What better way to accomplish this goal than spending time on the golf course with one another?

This tournament is also open to any family and friends of current or past brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

The Collegiate Veterans Association

The CVA is close to our hearts when it comes to Sig Ep. The CVA is developed by and for student veterans and supporters, dedicated to providing a social network for those who have experienced life in or around the military, to aid in the transition from military to campus life, and to continue their service to each other and their community. The CVA has been the home to our past and current brothers returning from the military.

“Upon departing from the military, you lose your brothers and sisters in arms. The CVA allows veterans to connect and network, a new sense of camaraderie as we all embark on this next journey as student veterans.”

“The money will go to helping scholarships to student veterans in need, and implementing new opportunities to helping families who lost their loved ones during OIF( Operation Iraqi Freedom) & OIR ( operation inherent resolve).”

-Brother Julian Oliver, US Navy Veteran and current President of the Collegiate Veterans Association.

Tournament Format

The event will hold over 100 players to compete in an 18 hole team scramble, consisting of (2) golfers per team. The afternoon begins with registration, followed by scramble play. There will be a closest to the pin and long drive competition on the driving range throughout the day, using Top Tracer technology. Following golf, lunch and an award celebration will be provided, including raffles and sponsor recognition.

-Team members all hit from the same spot on each shot, with the team selecting the best ball for their next shot. This continues until the completion of the hole.

-For shots off the green, each player must play within a scorecard of where the ball came to rest. In some events, allow a club length rather than a scorecard.

-For shots on the green, each player must play within a putter’s head of where the ball came to rest.

– Each player will be allowed to purchase mulligans for $25, either online or on the day of the tournament. A mulligan is a stroke in golf that is played from the same spot that a player hit their previous stroke, looking to re-do the prior shot without penalty. (mulligans can be found through ticket purchase).

– Tournament Champion: The Team with the lowest overall score will be awarded the first Sig Ep Classic trophy, including prizes and more!

– Long Drive Champion: The individual to record the longest drive will be awarded a trophy and prizes.

– Closest to the Pin Champion: The individual whose tee shot comes to rest closest to the hole will be awarded a trophy and prizes.

– Raffle: Raffle tickets will be sold on the day of the tournament and the raffle will take place during lunch. Multiple winners will be announced with a selection of prizes.

Player Pairing

Players will be paired in groups of four, which will consist of two individual teams teeing off together. Pairing preferences can be made after ticket purchase. If you are looking to connect with current brothers, and are planning to play without a predetermined partner, we will individually pair you with a brother randomly.

The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon are excited and look forward to meeting you all out on the course!
