Veterans of the Vietnam War and military supporters are invited to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum for a special program on March 29, 2023 —National Vietnam Veterans Day— during the 50th anniversary year of the signing of the Paris Peace Accords and the end of American involvement on the ground in Vietnam.
The Richard Nixon Foundation will dedicate a new statue memorializing all who served their country in the United States Military in the Vietnam War. The statue will be unveiled and permanently installed at the Nixon Presidential Library on March 29 at 11:00 AM.
Due to the prevalence of the Marine community in Southern California, the statue features a United States Marine, however, the figure is intended to represent all of those who served in the Vietnam War.
March 29 is a fitting choice for a day honoring Vietnam veterans. It was chosen to be observed in perpetuity as March 29, 1973, was the day United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disestablished and also the day the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam.
