Found a great one to share… this really captures what it feels like to be the spouse or significant other on Valentine’s Day when your better half is deployed away from home.
While most people celebrate with flowers and dinner reservations, some celebrate through distance, strength, and unwavering love (oh and tons of quick calls, FaceTimes and Skypes). It’s setting the phone volume to max just in case. It’s watching the clock and calculating time zones. It’s holding it together during the day and missing them the most at night.
It’s the quiet sacrifice. The late-night texts. The empty seat at the table. It’s being proud and lonely at the same time. It’s loving someone enough to let them serve — and choosing each other over and over again, even across oceans.
