July 4th - Happy Independence Day!Many wonderful organizations have put together special Independence Day “thank you” offerings for veterans and active duty military members (in some cases their respective families as well). On July 4th, all Veterans and current serving members of reserves of our Armed Forces will receive 50% off an adult entree with valid ID card or VA card.

Blue Star Museums:
Blue Star Museums is a partnership among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Joining Forces, MetLife Foundation and museums across the country. From Memorial Day (May 26, 2014) through Labor Day (September 1, 2014), thousands of museums, art centers, and exhibits are offering free admission to all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families. 

Brick House Tavern + Tap:
Brick House Tavern + Tap will honor active and retired military and their families with a 50% discount off all meal tickets on July 4, 2014.

Carowinds:
Carowinds amusement park in North Carolina is offering free admission to any active, inactive or retired service members with a valid ID on July 4-5.

Grizzly Industrial *NEW*:
Grizzly offers active, veteran and retired military personnel 5% off your order placed between July 4th and July 18th, 2014.

Home Depot:
All veterans are eligible for Home Depot’s 10% military discount on July 4th with a DoD-issued ID, a DD214 or a Veterans Driver’s License.

King’s Dominion:
The Kings Dominion amusement park in central Virginia is offering free admission for active, inactive or retired service members with a valid military ID on July 4 and 5, 2014. Please note this offer does not include family members.

King’s Island:
All military members – active and retired — will receive free admission to King’s Island, and amusement and water park in Ohio July 3-6, 2014. They are also offering discounted tickets for family members.

Lowe’s:
Lowe’s is offering their 10% military discount to military personnel in active, reserve or retired status, as well as retired veterans and those receiving VA benefits on July 4th.

Dorney Park:
Celebrate America’s Birthday with a classic FOURTH OF JULY BBQ! Pick between Friday, July 4, Saturday, July 5, or Sunday, July 6, 2014. Package includes admission and buffet style cookout served from 12pm to 4pm in Food Fest Grove. Meal tickets available now!

Michigan’s Adventure:
Michigan’s Adventure is offering military personnel of the Armed Forces, National Guard and Reserve a free admission on July 3-4, 2014. In addition, military personnel may purchase up to six additional tickets for family members at a discounted price.

Naples Zoo:
The Naples Zoo in Florida is offering free admission to all active and prior service personnel July 4-7. Plus, adult and child guests can also purchase tickets at $2 off regular Zoo admission during the weekend.

Valleyfair:
Valleyfair amusement park in Minnesota is offering free admission during their Military Appreciation Days July 3, 4, 5 and 6. This includes both active duty personnel and veterans, and discounted tickets are available for immediate family members.

Worlds of Fun:
Active duty, retired military and National Guard and Reserve receive complimentary admission to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City on July 4, 2014. Military personnel can also purchase discounted tickets for their immediate family.

Sea World:
Many discounts off 1-day Tickets all Summer Long!

Cedar Point:
Any active, retired or honorably-discharged member of the United States Armed Forces can receive one (1) free regular admission ticket to Cedar Point. Free ticket valid for one-day visit to Cedar Point July 4-7.

2014 Independence Day Events

Washington, D.C.:
National Independence Day Parade
The National Independence Day Parade features marching bands, military and specialty units and patriotic floats. It’s a great start to a full day of Fourth of July events. The parade starts at 11:45 a.m. on Constitution Avenue and 7th Street.

A Capitol Fourth
“A Capitol Fourth” is a free, 90-minute concert hosted by Tom Bergeron and features the National Symphony Orchestra. The concert is held on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Gates open at 3 p.m., and the concert begins at 8 p.m.

National Archives
The National Archives, home of the original Declaration of Independence, kicks off their Fourth of July celebration at 10 a.m. with a ceremony that includes a presentation of colors, patriotic performances and a reading of the Declaration of Independence. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., family activities are scheduled, including appearances by Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and other historical figures from 12-2.

National Mall Fireworks
One of the largest Independence Day fireworks display is held on the National Mall. See live performances on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol before the fireworks show.

New York:
Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks
The 38th Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks returns to the East River and lights up the night from the Brooklyn Bridge. The fireworks may be viewed from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the East River. Performers include Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande and Lionel Richie.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest
The annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest at Nathan’s Famous will take place on Brooklyn’s Coney Island. Entertainment begins at 10 a.m. The women’s contest begins at 11:30 a.m., and the men’s contest begins at 12:40 p.m.

Boston:
July 4th Concert and Fireworks 
Boston Pops concerts start at 8:30pm FIREWORKS start at  10:30pm, after the concert on July 4 concludes, the Boston fireworks begin to be launched from 7 barges in the middle of the Charles River.  With 10,000 fireworks being set off, you can see why everyone calls the show “spectacular”! both events are FREE “Find yourself a comfortable spot on either side of the river, and enjoy this special Boston patriotic event.
