RED Friday • National POW/MIA Recognition Day • Happy 79th Birthday U.S. Air Force
Today, Friday, September 18, 2026, is a particularly meaningful day for America’s military community as we support those serving, remember those who have not returned home, and celebrate 79 years of the United States Air Force.
🔴 RED FRIDAY — REMEMBER EVERYONE DEPLOYED
Every Friday, Americans are encouraged to wear red to Remember Everyone Deployed. Today, we recognize the brave men and women serving our country away from their families and loved ones.
Wherever they are serving around the world, we remember them, support them, and look forward to their safe return home.
⚫ NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY — YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN
Observed on the third Friday of September, National POW/MIA Recognition Day honors America’s prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action.
We remember their service and sacrifice, and we stand with the families who continue to wait for answers.
You Are Not Forgotten.
✈️ HAPPY 79TH BIRTHDAY, UNITED STATES AIR FORCE!
On September 18, 1947, the United States Air Force was officially established as a separate branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Today, 79 years later, we honor the generations of Airmen who have served our nation and those who continue that proud tradition around the world.
To our Veterans, Active Duty service members, Reservists, National Guard members, military spouses and families, and everyone currently deployed — thank you for your service and sacrifice.
