Today we celebrate U.S. Flag Day and honor the adoption of the American flag by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.
For nearly 250 years, the Stars and Stripes have served as a powerful symbol of freedom, unity, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of the United States of America.

🇺🇸 The Continental Congress officially approved the design of a national flag on June 14, 1777.
🇺🇸 There have been 27 official versions of the U.S. flag throughout American history.
🇺🇸 The current 50-star flag became official on July 4, 1960, following Hawaii’s admission as the 50th state.
🇺🇸 President Woodrow Wilson established National Flag Day in 1916, and President Harry Truman signed legislation making June 14 the official national observance in 1949.
