10 a.m.: So You Want to Start a Business: Creating a business starts with a great idea, but it doesn’t end there. There’s so much more to know and so many more things to do. Gary Robinson, SCORE District Director for the state of Tennessee, will go through a series of questions to which you’ll need to know the answers, as well as steps you’ll need to take to take your idea to the next step.
11 a.m.: Planning for Success: Gain key insights on Strategic Planning and Business Plans. We’ll discuss how you can turn those ideas into your mission and purpose as well as provide tools that will effectively organize your strategy and planning to focus and achieve your business goals. Presenter and event organizer R.G. Lineberry served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, designated naval aviator, served in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM 2003, 2005 and 2008, and commanded the NASSAU Expeditionary Strike Group. He is a SCORE volunteer who spearheads Veterans engagement.
Noon (working lunch): Social Media Tips for Your Business: Some people are naturals in this phenomenon we call social media. Others struggle with it. If you’re in business, you need it. And after hearing from and discussing with our social media guru, Anna-Vija McClain, you’ll leave this event with tips you can put to use immediately.
1 p.m.: Exploring Business Resources for Veterans: The vision of the VBOC at Pathway Lending is to be a key player that connects military families who are or aspire to be, entrepreneurs with the resources they need to be successful. I am the Director of the Veterans Business Outreach Center for KY and TN . I am a 23 year combat Army Veteran with a Masters degree in business. I will be presenting the capabilities of the Veterans Business Outreach Program.
2 p.m.: Funding Your Business: There are various types of capital business owners can use to fund their businesses. Two of the most common are debt and equity. This presentation, from Gary Moore, Community Development Specialist at BrightBridge Capital, will explain the difference between debt and equity, highlight resources that provide them and explain how you should prepare before seeking funding for your business.
The event is sponsored by SCORE chapters in Tennessee, Tennessee State’s Business Incubation Center, the U.S. Small Business Administration, BrightBridge Capital and the Veterans Business Outreach Center.
