Slippery Rock University To Host Veteran Owned Contracting Seminar August 17, 2012
Attention Pennsylvania Veteran Business Owners:
Veteran Owned Businesses Get Federal Government Contract Help
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –Slippery Rock University’s Government Contracting Assistance Center will host a Federal Government Contracting Seminar for Veteran Owned Businesses from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 17, at the Regional Learning Alliance, Cranberry Township.
The federal government has a 3 percent goal for awarding contracts and subcontracts to service-disabled veteran-owned businesses and is operating under a best-faith effort for doing business with VOBs.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has its own specific program called “Veterans First,” which places SDVOBs and VOBs first and second in their acquisition requirements.
At the upcoming seminar, representatives will discuss rules and regulations for doing business with the federal government, provide information on creating proper teaming and joint venture agreements, discuss the limitations on subcontracting and offer insight from a successful SDVOSB.
Those with questions should contact Renee Decker, government contract specialist in SRU’s Center for Economic and Community Development, at (724) 738-2346.
Interested businesses can register on-line by Aug. 16.
