To provide a venue to enhance the health, literacy, life experience and self-esteem of wounded warriors, other disabled and children facing adversity.
Horseback riding is a proven method of physical and mental therapy. Sanctuary Island Inc. coordinates participation in equine-related activities and therapeutic programs created specifically to support wounded and/or health-challenged war veterans, their immediate family members who also may need therapeutic assistance, and children who are disabled and/or facing adversity.
Our programs meet the qualifications of PATH International (formerly NARHA) and EAGALA
The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.), promotes safe and effective therapeutic horseback riding throughout the United States and Canada. Today, PATH Intl. has nearly 800 member centers and over 6,300 individual members in countries all over the world.
The Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) is a non-profit organization developed in the field of Horseback Assisted Psychotherapy. A powerful, effective, interesting, and fun therapeutic alternative that works. The growth and learning of all involved is intense and very rewarding.
Sanctuary Island, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity.
