As summer rolls on, many of us are looking forward to relaxing by the pool, spending the day at the beach, firing up the grill, or sharing a glass of wine with family and friends. These are moments we often take for granted.
But while we’re enjoying those freedoms, countless members of our U.S. Armed Forces are spending another day far from home—standing watch, training, deployed overseas, or serving in places where weekends feel no different than weekdays.
And let’s not forget the families they leave behind. Military spouses, children, parents, and loved ones continue to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, and quiet evenings without them, patiently waiting for the day they’re reunited.
