He was a member of A Company, 296th Combat Engineer Battalion, earning five battle stars while serving in the European Theatre. #EliWallach (The Magnificent Seven, The Misfits, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly): Drafted into the Army in January 1941. Served as staff Sergeant in a military hospital in Hawaii and later sent to Officer Candidate School in Abilene, Texas to train as a medical administrative officer. Actor #JackPennick: #USMC serving with the #PekingLegationGuard in China in 1912 and WWI. Pennick reenlisted in the #NAVY in September 1941, at the age of 45. He was promoted to chief warrant officer (chief photographer) in December 1942] and served in the Field Photographic Unit under Commander #JohnFord. Pennick was awarded the Silver Star medal for action in North Africa and #TomWaits (Singer, Songwriter, Actor): Coast Guard.
