Today we honor the life and legacy of Don Knotts (July 21, 1924 – February 24, 2006), the legendary actor and comedian whose unforgettable performances brought laughter to generations. Best known as Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show, Knotts also starred in Three’s Company, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, The Joey Bishop Show, The Red Skelton Show, McHale’s Navy, and many other beloved television shows and films.
Before becoming one of America’s most recognizable entertainers, Don Knotts proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, serving from June 21, 1943, to January 6, 1946. His military service is an important part of his legacy and one we are proud to recognize.
