MOAA Hosts 2013 Military Spouse Career Symposium
The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will host a workforce development symposium to help military spouses hit the ground running towards a new career in 2013.
The symposium is called “Keeping a Career on the Move”. It is slated for Friday, February 8, 2013 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the University of Washington Tacoma in Philip Hall located at 1918 Pacific Avenue Tacoma, WA.
Whether you’re a military spouse looking for a job now or preparing for a future career planners say you will find workshops, experts and employers who can help. The event is sponsored by TriWest Healthcare Alliance, with support from the University of Washington Tacoma.
The day begins with an open session called “Five Things Employers Want You to Know” which deals with what employers look for in a resume and how military spouses can avoid common mistakes when applying and interviewing for a job. In other sessions, military spouses will discuss how they balance home life and career. Field experts will also provide information on pathways to employment, career-specific licensing and training.
The program is free and open to all military spouses. Service members and veterans are also welcome. Military spouses, female service members and veterans who attend are eligible to receive a free gift from the jewelry line, Stella & Dot as part of the company’s 2012 Buy One Gift One holiday campaign for military families.
