Patriotism At Its Finest – Flags for Heroes at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne Florida – Honoring Heroes for Independence Day

While driving through Melbourne, Florida, I discovered an inspiring display in the open area on the south end of Ascension Catholic Church’s campus, located at 2950 N Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32935—Flags for Heroes, hosted by the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Martin B. Power Council 14573 and Assembly 3482! This moving American flag retirement site, held annually for a week around Independence Day (late June to early July), features dozens of sponsored U.S. flags honoring community heroes, from veterans to personal inspirations. For a $50 sponsorship, each flag includes a medallion and placard with your hero’s name, mailed to you as a keepsake after the display. Proceeds support the Knights of Columbus’ charitable works, including youth programs, community outreach, and support for Ascension Catholic Church and School. Learn more and sponsor a flag at https://kofc14573.weebly.com/flags.html. The display asks, “Who is a hero in your life?” Visit Ascension Catholic Church’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ACCMelbourne) for more community events!
