The Women Veterans Business Center of Houston Attends Disney Veterans Hiring Institute
Orlando, FL, November 15, 2013: The Women Veterans Business Center of Houston (TX) attended the inaugural Disney Veterans Hiring Institute on November 14, 2013 at Disney’s Boardwalk Hotel at Disneyworld. The day-long Veterans Institute, co-sponsored by Heroes Work Here and The Disney Institute, was designed to help small- and mid-sized companies build effective veteran-hiring programs of their own. The Women Veterans Business Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization that educates and empowers Women Veterans (and Military Families) to start Veteran-owned businesses. The Center is headquartered in Houston, Texas and was created by Army Veteran, Marylyn Harris. “The Women Veterans Business Center is appreciative of Disney’s efforts to hire Veterans and host the Veterans Hiring Institute,” says Harris. “In 2014, the Women Veterans Business Center plans to launch monthly Houston Veterans Hiring Forums and the Disney Institute provided excellent training and resources.”
The Disney Veterans Hiring Institute highlights included: Renowned Keynote Speakers, Disney’s Heroes Work Here Staff and Veteran Employees testimonials, government officials and non-profit veterans service organizations, who shared their experiences, best practices, and tips for making a successful transition from the military to the civilian workforce. After the day of training, Disney hosted Institute attendees for dinner, a dessert reception and complimentary access to the Disney light show at Epcot Center.
